Liberal trial lawyer Bill White is partnering with President Barack Obama to attack the Texas economy by supporting Washington-mandated environmental policies that will kill hundreds of thousands of Texas jobs. White is hiding this fact like he has hidden his taxes for his years in public service for 116 days and counting.
“Liberal Bill White is no friend to Texas when it comes to supporting the job-killing environmental policies of President Obama,” said Texans for Rick Perry spokesman Mark Miner. “By prompting the EPA to execute a power grab of Texas’ permitting process and by telling the Obama Administration how to sell cap and trade to the public, Bill White is clearly siding with Washington rather than Texas, as our state’s economy is seriously threatened by these actions.”
Yesterday, when the EPA initiated a power grab of Texas’ permitting process, White responded not by defending our state but by falsely claiming that Gov. Perry “created a confrontation with the EPA,” a lie that completely ignores White’s role in the action. [1]
In 2009, the Houston Chronicle reported White “met with senior EPA officials about how the state handles emissions permit requests,” and, “After meeting with White, EPA officials announced that many of the TCEQ rules are in violation of the federal Clean Air Act.” [2,3]
White also is a former Board Member of the Advisory Board of Environmental Defense Of Texas, as is EPA Regional Administrator Al Armendariz, the Obama Administration official responsible for the EPA’s power grab. [4,5]
The EPA’s power grab ignores Texas’ air quality successes, including the 22 percent reduction in ozone and 46 percent decrease in NOx emissions since 2000. [6]

Liberal trial lawyer Bill White should be held accountable for his role in the EPA’s power grab of Texas’ permitting process.
In 2009, the Houston Chronicle reported White “met with senior EPA officials about how the state handles emissions permit requests,” and, “After meeting with White, EPA officials announced that many of the TCEQ rules are in violation of the federal Clean Air Act.” [1, 2]

“Liberal Bill White should be held accountable for his role in the EPA’s power grab of Texas’ permitting process,” said Texans for Rick Perry spokesman Mark Miner. “Bill White specifically encouraged the EPA to attack Texas policies despite our state becoming a global energy leader while effectively cleaning our air and protecting our environment. Bill White has also served on the same environmental board as the Obama Administration official responsible for the EPA’s power grab, and Texas voters deserve to know if this scheme to place hundreds of thousands of Texas jobs at risk was created during meetings of this liberal advocacy group.”

Liberal trial lawyer Bill White continues to refuse to rule out raising taxes in addition to refusing to release his income taxes for his years in public service for 115 days and counting.
As detailed in an article in today’s Wall Street Journal titled, “Why Obamanomics Has Failed: Uncertainty about future taxes and regulations is enemy No. 1 of economic growth,” White’s threat of tax increases is harmful to the economy.
“Liberal Bill White’s refusal to rule out tax increases is yet another example of his support for the failed policies of President Obama,” said Texans for Rick Perry spokesman Mark Miner. “Bill White’s support for Obamacare, job-killing cap and trade legislation, and the $787 billion stimulus shows how out of touch he is with Texas voters, and his refusal to rule out tax increases is harmful to the economy.”

Liberal trial lawyer Bill White is embarrassed by and hiding his support for President Obama just like he has hidden his income tax returns for his years in public service for 114 days and counting. Though White has supported all three of President Obama’s signature policy initiatives – Obamacare, cap and trade, and the $787 billion stimulus – he is trying to deceive the public about his true beliefs.
Yesterday Politico reported that White is now “criticizing the size of the Democratic $787 billion dollar economic stimulus package,” a complete flip-flop from 2009 when White traveled to the White House to promote the stimulus with President Obama three days after it was signed into law.
White also denies he supports cap and trade despite writing a memo to the incoming Obama Administration telling them how to sell the job-killing legislation to the public, and he is now silent on Obamacare after stating he supported its goals before it was passed.
“Liberal Bill White is in lockstep with President Obama on all of his major policies, though he tries to hide that fact from Texas voters like he continues to hide his taxes,” said Texans for Rick Perry spokesman Mark Miner. “Which Bill White will show up today, Washington White who coaches the Obama Administration on how to fool voters on cap and trade, or Wily White who ducks and covers when trying to avoid direct answers?”

On Day 113 of liberal trial lawyer Bill White refusing to release his taxes for his years in public service, the United States Supreme Court ruled that Second Amendment rights also apply to state and local governments with its decision in the McDonald v. Chicago case.
Bill White was an active member of the US Conference of Mayors while he was mayor of Houston, and on April 24, 2009, the US Conference of Mayors filed an amicus brief defending Chicago’s ban on handguns by arguing that the Second Amendment does not extend to state and local governments. [1,2]
Bill White has stood silent and allowed yet another big-government Washington-based special interest group to attempt to chip away at basic American freedoms.
The US Conference of Mayors has also endorsed the principles of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a group founded by New York City Mike Bloomberg that White was a member of for years and which the National Rifle Association has called an “anti-gun front group.” [3,4]
“Supporting limitations on gun rights is yet another example of how out of touch Bill White is with the people of Texas,” said Texans for Rick Perry spokesman Mark Miner. “The Supreme Court’s decision that Second Amendment rights also apply to state and local governments is a defeat for Bill White and others who seek to restrict gun rights.”
